Torrita Blues 2008 XXth
edition: Torrita di siena, June 26th 27th and 28th
Torrita Blues festival is a very important musical
exhibition since 20 years, and it takes place in a great
medieval frame, in the heart of Tuscany.
Among Pienza, montepulciano and montalcino, there is
Torrita di Siena, a medieval village, where at the end of
June takes place one of the most important Italian blues
festival every year: Torrita Blues Festival.
This Festival was born in 1989 thanks to a group of
friends that love blues music, and this Festival has
become an important annual appointment.
Among lots of artist, we remember: Taj Mahal, John Mayall,
Robben Ford, Roy Rogers, Bettye Lavette, Popa Chubby,
Canned Heat, Luther Allison, Charlie Musselwhite, James
Cotton.
there are lots of initiatives, carried out by the
Association during this year: the ceremony of making
Torrita and New Orleans twin cities, in occasion of 2006
Blues festival, the adhesion to blues foundation of
memphis, to which belong the most important blues
associations in the world, Effetto blues, an exhibition
dedicated to italian blues bands.
To celebrate the twenty-year, the TB cultural association
has invited the first guest of the first edition in 1989,
Fabio treves, besides other international guests, such as
Keith B Brown, the Film “ the soul of a man” actor, a Wim
Wenders and Martin scorzese film, the british blues
quintet, an important band made up of significant
musicians from the 70s most famous bands, like john mayall
and the Bluesbreakers and even sherman Robertson, a great
guitar player, who proposes a zydeco, soul and funky mix
sound.
He is the Albert Collins’ successor.

During the week there will be initiatives such as
photoshow, video, market, and the first photographic
competition called SCATTI BLUES subtitle “the colours of
the soul”. There will be also the film “the soul of a man”
showing, with the K.B.Brown’s participation and
attendance.
Concerts will take place in Matteotti square at 21.30h.
